I make smoothies on a daily base. For me it is the best way to assure my kids get their daily portion of fruit and veggies; they love smoothies and I can hide veggies in it. Avocado smoothies are on top of my list; they make the smoothie super creamy and load them with vitamins and minerals.
I am sharing my 3 favorite avocado smoothies with you here. All are creamy, wholesome, naturally sweet and so delicious!
Health benefits of avocados
Before we start making smoothies, let’s look into this creamy, green fruit (yes it is a fruit; “the sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food”).
Avocados are a naturally nutrient-dense food and contain nearly 20 vitamins and minerals; they are a great source of vitamins C, E, K, and B-6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium. They also provide lutein, beta-carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids (it is the only fruit that provides a substantial amount of healthy monounsaturated fatty acids).
What does that mean? It means avocados contribute to your health; blood sugar health, eye health, it is heart-healthy, gut-healthy, an immune system booster and helps with weight loss because it contains a lot of fiber.
Long story short; avocados are a true super food! And super delicious, so let’s get started!
My 3 favorite avocado smoothies
All these smoothies are simple and quick to make; add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
Banana strawberry
For this smoothie I blend avocado, frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, coconut milk and almond meal together. And because I use frozen fruits, I don’t have to add ice which will make the smoothie super creamy.
The green avo
Lots of greens in this green smoothie! I blend avocado, kale, frozen pineapple, spinach, mint leaves, and (coconut) yogurt or (plant based) milk together.
Simply orange
This is my kids’ favorite and I couldn’t be happier! All I have to do is blend avocado, frozen bananas and freshly squeezed orange juice together to make this orange avocado smoothie. It’s that simple! Healthy doesn’t have to be hard and elaborate.
Tip: I already mentioned it above, but use frozen fruit so you don’t have to add ice to your smoothie. This way your smoothie will be creamier and nutrient-denser!
NEW!! Chocolate banana breakfast smoothie
For this breakfast smoothie I blend avocado, frozen bananas, almond butter, oat milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, oats and chia seeds together. This is my dessert-for-breakfast smoothie, it’s so rich and chocolaty, yet it has all the nutrients to make this a legit breakfast smoothie!
These are my favorites, but there are so many more fruit and vegetable options to make avocado smoothies with. Will you let me know what your favorite combo is below in the comments?
We all love avocado smoothies in this household. I hope I have inspired you to start drinking smoothies on a daily base. They are
super healthy – smooth and creamy – full of fruit and vegetables – a kid’s favorite – SO SO delicious
