Cereal, it’s a big deal in our household. Every weekday morning cups and cups of it are devoured by my kids for breakfast. They even bring them to school as a snack, ask for them when they come home from school and sprinkle them on their ice cream for dessert.
I try to make all of our cereal myself. This way I know what we eat and we don’t go overboard on sugar. I have always made my own granola (I even have a special holiday granola) and today I am sharing my homemade wholesome cocoa puffs with you!
What is in these homemade cocoa puffs?
Only 4 wholesome ingredients! Puffed quinoa, unsweetened cacao powder, coconut oil and maple syrup.
4 ingredients, 5 minutes of your time and your bowl of cocoa puffs is on the table!
How to make your own cocoa puffs?
These cocoa puffs are super easy to make.
I start by mixing the coconut oil, maple syrup and cacao powder. Alert: it will become a thick paste! I add the quinoa puffs to it and mix it all well until the puffs are evenly coated.
On a lined baking tray I spread the coated puffs and I bake them in a preheated oven for just 3-5 minutes.
Once they have cooled off and I break them up a bit if they are clustered together, my homemade cocoa puffs are ready!
The kids LOVE these healthy cocoa puffs! I am so thrilled about it; new breakfast cereal, new snack, new dessert topping! SWOON!
My kids love these! I love them! And I am sure you and your kids will love them as well. They are
perfectly crunchy – chocolatey – wholesome – easy to make – loved by kids – & SO delicious
This is our go to weekday breakfast cereal together with our homemade granola and this cinnamon cookies cereal. On weekends, when we have more time, we make something special like these oats and almond pancakes, coconut french toast or this amazing spiced banana bread. All delicious, all healthy! - Mix coconut oil, maple syrup and cacao powder. It will become a thick paste (sticky mess..).
- Add the quinoa puffs to it and mix it all well until the puffs are evenly coated.
- Spread the coated puffs on your lined baking tray and I bake them in the oven for just 3-5 minutes.
- Once they have cooled off, break them up a bit (if they are clustered together) and your homemade cocoa puffs are ready!
