Have you ever made your own jam or marmalade before? With chia seeds and berries you’ll have jam in no time! I use strawberries, because they are my favorite, but blueberries, raspberry, blackberry, all work and taste incredibly delicious as well!
A croissant on a Sunday morning with healthy and easy strawberry chia jam? Yes please! But it is great on a slice of nuts and seeds bread as well or as the top layer of a chia pudding or cheesecake!
How I make this healthy, nutritious strawberry chia jam?
It is so simple and quick to make! I just add berries, water, honey and lemon juice to a small saucepan and heat it up.
Once it is boiling, I reduced the heat to low and let it simmer until the fruit has softened and falls apart.
I mash the fruit with a fork (I like mine chunky, but you can mash it more to get a smoother jam). Once it has reached the right consistency, I take it off the heat and add the chia seeds. I stir the strawberry chia seed jam and let it sit for 5-15 minutes until firm (the consistency of jam). That’s it!
My boys love this naturally sweetened jam made with chia seeds. I spread it on slices of bread and put them in their lunchboxes. Wholesome so totally ok to bring to school!
We all love this healthy and easy strawberry chia jam. In fact, I don’t buy jam in the store anymore. We only eat our homemade jam now! We hope you will love it too. It is
naturally sweetened – nutritious – easy and quick to make – adjustable and versatile – our kids’ favorite – SO delicious
Spread this chia jam on a slice of nuts and seeds bread, a whole wheat bagel with (vegan) cream cheese. Use it on chia puddings or cheesecakes. You can’t go wrong with this healthy sweet treat!
Healthy, easy strawberry chia jam
Ingredients
- 2 cups strawberries (fresh or frozen)

- 2 tbsp water (to prevent the strawberries from sticking to the saucepan)
- 0-3 tbsp honey (or agave syrup or maple syrup; to taste)
- 2-3 tbsp chia seeds
Instructions
- Add strawberries, water, honey and lemon juice to a small saucepan and heat it up. Once it is boiling, reduced the heat to low and let it simmer until the fruit has softened.
- Mash the fruit with a fork (mash less if you want a chunkier jam, more for a smoother jam).
- Take it off the heat and add the chia seeds. Stir and let it sit for 5-15 minutes so the jam can get firm(er).
- Transfer to a jar and refrigerate.
