I have always been a big fan of greens-packed-smoothies. They taste amazingly fresh and I immediately feel healthy when I drink them. My kids not so much though. They never wanted to come near them. Until they learned about what the Incredible Hulk eats… you can guess what that is right? Green food! And he drinks… green smoothies!
It is one of my ways to get kids to eat veggies. As said in this article I made sure that the first few times I made a green smoothie for my kids it was spot on (for their taste buds), so a bit more honey than usual, a bit more banana or mango in there to get it just a bit more sweeter and fruity. Sometimes you just got to trick them..
But so now they are used to green smoothies. They actually like them a lot. They have even named them; The Hulk, the Lizard and the Frog. And they now drink the original recipe I created for myself. And I am here today to share them with you!
These are my 3 favorite green smoothies. Different ingredients, but same way to prepare and all super awesome and delicious. Let’s make some smoothies!
How to make these green smoothies?
Start with adding all ingredients to a blender, but only add half of the liquid the recipe calls for. Blend until silky smooth. Now add the rest of the liquid and blend some more. Doing it like this will help get it super smooth and creamy (chunk-free is what my kids want).
Taste your smoothie and add some honey (or agave or maple syrup if you are vegan) if you think it needs it. Add (more) lime juice if your smoothie lacks a kick.
Last important step: decorate your smoothie glass. It makes the drink more attractive to kids. And it just looks fancy.
We (now) all love green smoothies here in this household. And I couldn’t be happier about it. I hope you and your kids will enjoy them too. They are
packed with greens – naturally sweet – creamy – healthy – & so delicious
They are a great after school drink to accompany these no bake chocolate chip cookie dough bites or give this with their yogurt and homemade granola in the morning.
