Craving chocolate? Want a quick snack? This edible healthy chocolate chip cookie dough is quick and easy to make. The ultimate movie night snack. You will whip this up in less than 5 minutes!
I don’t know what it is with cookie dough, but I sometimes think my kids love it even more than the cookies I make with it. This edible cookie dough doesn’t contain eggs so it is perfect to eat raw. It is pretty healthy as well (dairy free, gluten free and refined sugar free), so I make it as an after school snack a lot.
How I make this edible healthy chocolate chip cookie dough?
1 bowl, 7 ingredients that you likely will have in your cupboard anyway, and 5 minutes of your time is all it takes to get a smile on your little ones’ faces.
I add oat flour, pure maple syrup, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract to a medium size bowl and mix it all with a large wooden spoon until a dough forms. Then I mix in the chocolate chips. When the dough is too wet, I add a bit more oat flour. But usually it is a bit too dry, so I add a splash of oat milk. Once I get the consistency of easily scoopable cookie dough, it is ready.
Now I either roll tiny balls out of the cookie dough or I use a mini ice cream scoop to add it on top of warm brownie or ice cream. I have even filled cup cakes with them! Such a great surprise!
It doesn’t keep very long (I think… we mostly always finish the whole batch in a couple of minutes); they get really firm because of the coconut oil that hardens. If you are that person who can just only eat a few and then stop, you can pop it in the microwave for a few seconds the next day. The warmth that is created on the inside of the cookie dough makes it taste like the perfect under baked, fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookie.
We all love this treat and we hope you do too! They are:

Edible healthy chocolate chip cookie dough
Ingredients
- 1½ cup gluten free oat flour (store bought or home grinded from gluten free oats)
- 3-4 tbsp pure maple syrup (or sub honey or agave nectar)
- ¼ cup coconut oil (melted) (or sub vegan butter)
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp fine sea salt
- ¼ cup chocolate chips (I used mini dark chocolate chips)
- 2-4 tbsp oat milk (or other type of plant based milk)
Instructions
- Mix the first 4 ingredients, with a wooden spatula into a dough. Then add the chocolate chips. If it is too wet add a bit more oat flour (start with 1/2 tbsp at a time). If too dry, add oat milk (1 tbsp at a time)
- Eat it just like that, on brownie, as a surprise inside a cupcake or roll balls to have cookie dough balls!
- Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. You do have to heat them up in the microwave though to get them softer and a bit warm again.
